Handyman Service - Leyden Township - Township Office

Leyden Township Handyman Service is free, exclusively for Leyden Township senior citizens and the disabled. To qualify you must be the property owner, be 60+, and/or be physically disabled. If under 60 and disabled, a doctor's note is required. The homeowner must sign an authorization form before any work is performed. In the event materials or parts are needed, the Handyman will purchase them. Homeowner reimbursement is required.

Handyman Program - Proviso Township - Main Office

Proviso Township Handyman Program is available to senior homeowners over age 60 and disabled residents of Proviso Township. The program will be available to provide advice and referral on a variety of home maintenance issues. In addition, he will be able to do minor repairs for a fuel surcharge of $5.00 per visit plus the cost of parts, if needed. Things like a leaky faucet or a toilet that keeps running, replacing the refrigerator bulb, or the light at the top of the stairs that just can't be reached are some examples of the ways in which they can help.

Assists property homeowners, who need a small home repair completed in their home in McHenry County. Senior Services maintains a pool of volunteers and service organizations that are able to help with small handyman tasks and yard maintenance.

Staff can also provide a list to connect seniors to preferred professional service providers and individuals for private pay who have consented to a background and reference screening process. This list is a reliable substitute to choosing an unknown service provider from the phone book. Preferred providers are available to perform general home repairs and odd jobs, plumbing, window washing, waste removal, lawn maintenance, snow removal, etc. Based on availability, financial assistance may be an option for seniors who qualify."

Services include interior or exterior work performed to alleviate critical health, life and safety issues or code violations. This includes a change to or repair of materials or components, a reconfiguration of space, a modification for accessibility and interior modifications, installation or extension of plumbing, and mechanical or electrical systems on an existing structure.

Offers minor home repairs that can be requested and are then assessed. If the repair is beyond the scope of this program, clients will be referred to another entity or for-profit business that may be able to assist at a discount. HOME REPAIR AND REHABILITATION SERVICES | REBUILDING TOGETHER - STEPHENSON COUNTY

Rehabilitates the houses of low-income homeowners (particularly the elderly, disabled, and families with children) so that they may continue to live in warmth, safety and independence. All work is provided free of charge to the homeowner. Referrals come from health and human service agencies, community and faith-based organizations, service groups, case managers, and individuals. The homeowners, if physically able, work with the volunteers in the spirit of neighbor helping neighbor. Home assessments determine a home's eligibility based on national and local criteria.

Repairs vary from painting and trash removal to minor repairs such as electrical or plumbing work. Smoke detectors and new locks may be installed. Home modifications and accessibility needs given priority. The repairs must be able to be completed in one day; no major structural repairs and no tree removal.

Furnace Assistance - Elk Grove Township - Main Office

Elk Grove Township offers the Furnace Assistance program to residents who qualify for LIHEAP. The program is designed to restore the home's heating system back to a safe and effective operation. Assistance is only available to approved households that have or are eligible to receive a LIHEAP benefit and whose heating systems are not operational or has been red-tagged by their utility company. The services are free of charge for income-qualifying households. Renters are not eligible. The program begins October 1st.

Provides home rehabilitation assistance for single family homeowner occupied residents when grant funding is available through IDHA. Mobile homes are not eligible for this program. Each application is seen on a case by case basis. Measures will be done based on needs identified in the home inspection/assessment. The focus is on code, health, safety, and lead paint issues first. Grants are for a 2 year period.
