Provides shelter to homeless animals and places suitable animals in new homes through an adoption program. The Society accepts companion animals (dogs, cats, rabbits, and other pets) relinquished by their owners. Seniors for Seniors: The adoption fee will be waived for approved senior-citizen adopters of any cat or dog over 10 years of age. Seniors are eligible at 60 years of age and up. Feral Cats - Trap, Neuter and Return: Trapped feral cats may be brought to the shelter for spay/ neuter surgery for later release. Champaign County residents will be given priority. Humane traps may be "rented" for no fee, but an agreement must be signed to return it. There is a fee for surgeries. CCHS also conducts investigations of possible animal neglect or cruelty under the Illinois Humane Care for Animals Act. However, any emergencies involving animal abuse should be reported to the police immediately. CCHS provides dog training, low-cost spay/neuter programs, and a variety of humane education programs. Note: People with problems related to stray or lost/found pets should also contact Champaign County Animal Control.

An organization working to reduce the cat population in Central Illinois using the Trap/Neuter/Return (TNR) method. Services include: - Spay/neuter trapped cats with the assistance of the participating veterinarians, which are then returned to their original area to be released. - Vaccinate for rabies and distemper. - Lend traps. - Offer advice to caretakers (colony managers) on the feral cat colony maintenance. - Require caretakers (colony managers) to register with the SFF to request assistance with the TNR. Does not: - Remove or relocate cats. - Accept or adopt cats. Low cost spay/neuter services for indoor and outdoor cats are also offered.
A no-kill facility. Primary goals are to reduce pet overpopulation and find forever loving homes for the sick, injured, abused, neglected, and abandoned animals in Decatur and Macon County that come into the facility. Offers discount spay/neuter program year round to low income, unemployed pet owners, senior citizens, and qualifying persons in need.
