United Way of Illinois Valley is a volunteer-led organization that invests in critical health and human service programs, coordinates community initiatives to improve lives and strengthen communities. A listing of local services can be found on the website.
Partners with health and human service non-profits. By uniting service organizations, individuals, businesses, and government, United Way of Eastern LaSalle County addresses the community's most pressing needs.
Contributions to the United Way for Spoon River Country are invested in the following areas: - Nurturing Children (youth development, mentoring, support for at-risk children and youth). - Strengthening and Supporting Families (counseling, domestic violence services, disaster services, health and safety, end-of-life bereavement services). - Providing Basic Needs (access to food, housing, interpreter services, emergency services, and other basic supplies). - Fostering Independence (support for persons with disabilities, vocational training and job support, enhancement of the quality of life for older adults).
Provides endowments & donor services, stewardship, grant making, and community initiatives to organizations within DeKalb county. Grants are awarded in the areas of arts & culture, community development, environment & animal welfare, education, health & human services, and nonprofit capacity building.

Community Mental Health Funding Alliance and the local mental health authority in the south Kane County area. INC is a unique partnership of seven township community mental health 708 boards. After passing a referendum for collection of a mental health tax, each township levies this tax upon recommendation of their 708 board. The levies are combined to maximize planning and funding for the residents in all seven townships for mental health, developmental disability, and substance abuse services.

Provides classroom, program and technological grants, among others. 301 Central Education Foundation fundraises annually with the Trivia with a Twist event. Offers two scholarships. - Charles J. Marshall Scholarship. This scholarship is based on scholastic achievement, participation in school or civic activities. - 301 Central Education Foundation Scholarship. This scholarship is based on scholastic achievement, participation in community or school service, and demonstration of leadership in the community or district schools.

The Mental Health Resource League for McHenry County is an all-volunteer league. They raise funds to help McHenry County mental health agencies supply the services needed in areas such as crisis hotlines, youth programs, abuse, addictions, and developmental disabilities.
Provides referral support and advocacy for residents, and financial support to programs operated by partner organizations. Focuses on efforts that improve the quality of life for residents. Concentrates on improving: - Education. - Financial stability. - Health. - Helping Knox County residents meet their basic needs.

Administers Federal grant programs such as: - Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). - Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA). - Continuum of Care (COC). - Provides grants for social service agency programs and facility improvements that are within HUD guidelines and the city of Bloomington. - Provides funds for the demolition of vacant, deteriorated structures within Bloomington. - Provides funds for rehabilitation on single family owner occupied, income eligible households located within the City of Bloomington Corporate Limits. - Provides funds for infrastructure improvements located in low / moderate income areas - such as streets, curb, gutters, sidewalks, water, and sewer services.
- Illinois Prairie Community Foundation (IPCF) encourages local philanthropy to meet local needs. - Foundation has more than 200 component funds for individuals, families, and non-profit organizations. - Funds include endowments, scholarships, agency and project funds, and donor advised funds. Foundation is working to build strong field of interest endowments in five areas: - Arts and culture. - Health and wellness. - Education. - Youth. - Environment. - Jewish education and life. Earnings from these endowments, other endowments and proceeds from the Annual Campaign are used for annual Community Foundation grants to local nonprofits. - IPCF's Women to Women Giving Circle provides annual grants to nonprofit organizations benefiting local women and children. The public is invited to spring and fall forums to learn about issues that affect local women. - Youth Engaged in Philanthropy (YEP) is a program designed to develop leadership and teamwork skills in high school students while they become familiar with the nonprofit sector. Each year, the group develops a grant application, promotes it, reviews applications and recommends grant awards. Applications to join the group are available on the website each fall. - Community Foundation works to strengthen local philanthropy by helping new nonprofits with fiscal management, providing an annual workshop for all nonprofits and by offering nonprofits opportunities to create their own agency endowments within the Community Foundation family. Individuals, families and local businesses may establish Donor Advised Funds at the Foundation to facilitate their charitable giving, and the Community Foundation works with financial professionals to facilitate legacy gifts from trusts and estates to benefit local communities. - IPCF makes it possible for everyone, regardless of wealth or status, to make a real and lasting impact in our community. - Provides a means for people to establish a fund to benefit any charitable purpose they wish or to make a gift to an existing fund, in any amount to provide lasting support for those causes that are important to them.
The AARP Foundation is AARP's charitable organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for all, with an emphasis on those 50 and older, and especially for those at social and economic risk. Provides programs to advance this goal as well as legal advocacy for age-related issues. Programs and services: - Back to Work 50+. - Connect2Affect. - Experience Corps. - Senior Community Service Employment Program. - Tax-Aide Program. - Work for Yourself@50+. Back to Work 50+: Offers free workshops, coaching, and resources that can help older adults compete in the current workplace. Connect2Affect: Working to create an understanding of loneliness and isolation, draw attention to this issue, and catalyze action to end social isolation among older adults. Goal is to create a network of resources that meets the needs of anyone who is isolated or lonely. Experience Corps: A community-based volunteer program that empowers people over 50 to serve as tutors to help students to become better readers by the end of the third grade. Senior Community Service Employment Program: Assists low-income unemployed individuals age 55+ find work. Tax-Aide Program: Provides free tax help to older adults with low to moderate income. Work for Yourself@50+: Assists older adults with exploring self-employment options to increase their financial stability.
