Mentoring Employment Training Program - Roll Call - Satellite Office

Roll Call's Mentoring Employment Training Program (MET) provides youth and young adults employment opportunities, career development training, and a path to educational endeavors while actively participating in part-time and full-time subsidized work experience. The goal of the program is to address the lack of employment opportunities or disparities in underserved communities, which have been affected by the shortage of employment training, educational opportunities, and youth violence.Participants will be provided with temporary part-time/full-time work experience and mentoring; transitioning to unsubsidized employment opportunities with a non-profit agency, community-based organization, and the private sector.

Teen Squad - Girls in the Game - Douglass Park Fieldhouse

Girls in the Game provides opportunities for teens from across the city to earn scholarship money, support and coach younger participants, develop leadership skills, connect with other teens, and choose their own schedule. Teen Squad is an application-based program with limited spots; once accepted, teens go through their coach training to practice their coaching skills. Other activities throughout the school year include field trips, interviews with local business leaders, professional and personal development workshops, and other activities.

Youth Peacemaker Pod Program - River Oaks Community Education and Development Corporation - Main Office

River Oaks Community Education and Development Corporation (ROC ED) Youth Peacemaker Pod (YPP) initiative uses writing, music, and other creative expressions to expand and amplify the voices of young people. This program aims to train youth to use their talents as an alternative to violence and explore new untapped talents. There is no fee to participate in the YPP program. Funding is provided in part by the Cook County Juvenile Justice Advisory Council. This program serves youth and young adults ages 14-26 in the communities of Calumet City, Dolton, Harvey, Lansing, Phoenix, South Holland, and Thornton.

Nurturing Artistic Expression - The Love, Unity, and Values Institute - Main Office

The Love, Unity, and Values (LUV) Institute's Nurturing Artistic Expression class is led by accomplished local artists and Circle Keepers. Students explore their artistry as they create a mixed-media mosaic that represents shared values, ideas, and creativity. Role-playing, modeling, reflective exercises, and small group discussions are used in this process to help participants navigate their social environment, interpret themselves, and collaborate with others. The finished mosaic is then proudly displayed at their school for everyone to enjoy. Discussions are sparked around the messages and experiences of the participants.
