The Jack Ehrlich Literacy Program has been a leader in adult literacy for over 25 years focusing on serving individuals with disabilities. From learning the alphabet and phonics to increasing reading levels, creative writing, and computer literacy, the adult literacy program supports adult learners of all abilities. Small group instruction for computer literacy and creative writing is also available.
The Literacy Connection assists adult learners who are proficient in English, but may have difficulty identifying letters or words, reading a menu or sign, filling out a job application, or doing simple math, as well as those with limited English skills learn to read, write, speak and understand English, so that they can take a more active role in the society.
Oakton College offers free adult literacy programs.
Trained education volunteers provide one-on-one tutoring to guests on a variety of subjects such as computer skills, reading, writing, math, GED preparation, and books club. The hour-long sessions take place prior to a meal. Currently, more than 30 guests participate in the program.

Metropolitan Asian Family Services (MAFS) provides state-funded adult literacy courses at three of their locations.
The Adult Learning Resource Center (ALRC) has provided expert professional development for adult educators since the 1970s. The ALRC utilizes content expertise and current research to develop and deliver high-quality professional development and technical assistance to individuals, programs, and state networks. These services are available to educators through online courses, in-person training, and other activities.
Literacy Chicago offers a broad range of programs including Basic Literacy, GED preparation, English as a Second Language, Workforce Development, Citizenship classes, Digital Literacy, and numerous bridge programs.

Oakton College offers free adult literacy programs.
Howard Area Community Center's Adult Education program assists adult learners in improving their reading, writing, mathematics, English language acquisition, digital literacy, and other skills. They aim to help students obtain the literacy skills needed to successfully navigate the workforce, training programs, and post-secondary education, leading to self-sufficiency and productive lives.

FCO educates parents on strategies that can actively support their children's educational and personal development. Adult Education has always been one of Frida's main focuses. By offering adult education, we hope to empower our community so that it may keep progressing. We have various sites throughout the city that offer ESL, Computer literacy, and STEAM classes for adults in the community and no cost.
