Volunteer Opportunities
All colleges throughout the IECC district offer tuition-free classes to help prepare students for the GED exam. Day and evening classes are typically offered in 8- or 16-week formats. The GED/Adult Basic Education (ABE) classes review math, reading, writing, science, social studies, and the Constitution, which are all covered on the exam.

National Able Network provides educational courses for adults who want to improve their basic skills in reading, writing, math, listening, and speaking.
Provides free classes to improve reading, writing and math skills. Also, various course work including health sciences or manufacturing fields.
Helps qualified individuals build foundational, employability, and occupation skills especially with respect to improving reading, writing, and mathematics skills necessary to earn high school equivalency certificate. Free classes use occupationally relevant instructional materials tailored to the individual's career interest and level of readiness to prepare for college and career programs.

- Adult Basic Education (ABE): Adult Basic Education classes offer instruction in math, vocabulary, reading comprehension and writing skills. These skills are needed for success in the workplace, the community and for education. Adults, 16 years of age and older who meet certain requirements, are eligible to enroll. - Adult Secondary Education (ASE): Preparation classes for the General Educational Development (GED) exam or other accepted High School Equivalency (HSE) exams are available for adults, 16 years of age and older, who have not graduated from high school. Also offered in Spanish.
Urbana Adult Education Center provides lifelong learning opportunities to persons 16 years of age and over (some restrictions will apply). Classes are funded through federal and state grants, with help from sources such as The United Way of Champaign County.

Volunteer Opportunities
Designed for non-traditional students to achieve their High School Equivalency certificate and beyond. Assists students by connecting with local agencies and services, creating a transition plan for college, training or career readiness, and bridging the gap between student and services within the workforce area. During a student’s time in the program, they will learn basic skills for English, Language Arts, Math, and workplace skills, as well as, become prepared to take the High School Equivalency Exam.
