Legal Advocacy - Apna Ghar - Main Office

Advocates guide survivors through the legal system and help access available legal remedies, including civil and criminal orders of protection, pressing criminal charges, obtaining crime victims' compensation, filing for divorce, custody, and support, as well as accessing immigration remedies through protective statutes such as the Violence Against Women Act. They operate a volunteer attorney led family law clinic in partnership with Chicago Volunteer Legal Services (CVLS).

Humboldt Park Outreach Program - Connections for Abused Women and their Children - Headquarters

The Humboldt Park Outreach Program (HPOP) focuses its bilingual services on adults and children living in the community to increase their safety, self-esteem, and better understand the resources available to assist them. HPOP is a community-based counseling outreach program for those victims of domestic violence who either have left a shelter and begun independent living or have not yet made the decision to leave their abuser. Clients who are deemed eligible for this program after the intake process may also access free diapers from the agency.

Program also provides community referrals and advocacy for clients.

The Outreach Legal Advocate provides information and counseling on legal rights, available remedies, assistance in completing court documentation and filing Orders of Protection.
