Bridging the Divide - YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago - Crown Family YMCA/Main Office

The Bridging the Gap program was developed to help facilitate an understanding between youth, law enforcement officials, and other community members. Through this program, the YMCA and community partners offer opportunities for dialogue through cafés, peace circles, and the exchange of photos and stories. The importance of healthy youth-police relationships is what continues to encourage the Y and local police departments to build and sustain effective partnerships through Bridging The Divide.

Angel of God Resource Center, Inc. (AOGRC) Violence prevention education is designed to teach individuals, particularly students, the knowledge and skills to prevent violence. They provide information about violence, challenge negative attitudes towards it, and develop essential interpersonal skills, including emotional control, conflict resolution, and empathy. Taught in a variety of methods, including classroom lessons, role-playing, group discussions, and interactive activities, and have age-appropriate curricula that address issues like bullying, healthy relationships, and sexual abuse.

Reimagine Youth Development - SGA Youth & Family Services - Cicero

Reimagine Youth Development takes a comprehensive approach to reducing firearm violence through targeted community investments. The program builds protective factors around youth of color to decrease risk-taking behaviors related to gun and community violence and works to strengthen the caregiver-child relationship among families who have been traumatized by community violence. Services provided include mentoring, support groups, counseling, youth leadership development, after-school services, and life skills education.

Justice Advisory Council Recidivism Reduction Program (JAC) - Lawrence Hall - Workforce Development and Community Wellness

Lawrence Hall's 13-week JAC program offers a variety of supports to youth ages 14-24 who have been involved with the justice system. After a selective enrollment process, youth take part in group and/or individual therapies, mentoring, employment services, and educational support that help prevent the reoccurrence of high-risk behaviors and violence.

COMPREHENSIVE COMMUNITY-BASED YOUTH SERVICES (CCBYS) | AUNT MARTHA'S HEALTH AND WELLNESS

Provides a 24-hour crisis response and intervention program for youth ages 11-17. The CCBYS team talks with youth and their families to understand the challenges at home. They work quickly to make sure everyone is safe and then make a plan to support the whole family. CCBYS can help with youth in crisis, youth at risk of involvement with DCFS, and youth at risk of involvement in the juvenile justice system. Call for youth who are locked out and their parents will not allow them to return, a youth beyond the control of their parents and in immediate physical danger, a run-away, or a homeless youth without their parents.

Restorative Justice - Habilitative Systems, Inc. - Main Office

The Restorative Justice Program focuses on reducing recidivism among offenders, diverting at-risk youth from the court system, and reducing incidences of violence by increasing competency and building community relationships. The Restorative Justice Program provides services that include life skills, mentoring, homework assistance, tutoring, leadership skills, community service projects, and conflict resolution through peace circles.

The Trauma Response and Intervention Movement (TR4IM) provides clinical, educational, social, and economic support to underserved families who may experience trauma in any of its forms, including but not limited to violence, unemployment, substance abuse, food insecurity, and other barriers to a stable and safe life. The Second Chance Initiative (SCI) violence prevention program provides a community-focused approach to violence prevention. Central to SCI's philosophy is the belief that violence is a learned behavior and can be mitigated through strategies akin to disease control. The program focuses on detecting potential violence and intervening promptly through trained messengers. It provides ongoing behavior modification and support to high-risk individuals. Efforts are made to change community norms from violence acceptance to rejecting violence as a norm. Data is continuously analyzed to ensure effective implementation and identify trends. Staff receive comprehensive training and technical support for proper execution. These execution components include:High-Risk Individual Identification: Through structured intake criteria, SCI identifies and engages with high-risk youth and young adults. Individuals must meet criteria, such as gang involvement, violent criminal history, or recent victimization.Street Outreach Workers: Their street outreach program ensures 24/7 availability of workers who intervene in conflicts, preventing retaliatory violence. They prioritize keeping conflicts in check through mediation and continuous follow-ups. Outreach workers are chosen for their credibility within high-risk communities. Outreach workers are provided a State of Illinois required 40 hour violence prevention training and quarterly booster training.Case Management: Utilizing case managers, SCI develops tailored plans and connect individuals to vital resources and services, facilitating their transition away from violent lifestyles.Victim Services: SCI provides support to victims of violence, aiding in their physical and emotional recovery by empowering them with skills, services, and opportunities.Changing Social Norms: Through media campaigns, events, and partnerships with community organizations and law enforcement, SCI strives to foster a societal consensus against violence.

Violence Prevention - Main Office

Chicago Cultural Performing Arts & Media Alliance has developed a comprehensive violence prevention strategy where neighborhood institutions and community leaders come together to coordinate resources and services to make a safer community. Street outreach workers will be employed to mediate conflicts and prevent retaliatory violence between those who are at risk to commit or to become the victims of firearm violence. Victim services workers/advocates helps families and victims of violence recover from physical and emotional trauma caused by the violence by empowering them with skills, services, and opportunities. Case management services also offered.
