Provides grants up to $40,000 to assist low-to moderate income households to complete critical home repairs, including: - Roofing - Windows & doors - Heating & cooling - Electrical - Plumbing - Lead Based Paint, mold and asbestos remediation - Kitchens - Bathrooms - Flooring - Foundation and structural repairs - Wheelchair ramps - Widening doorways - Accessible kitchens and bathrooms Also provides loans of up to $20,000 for repairs, accessibility improvements and other home improvements. Assistance is structured as a 3%-interest loan with monthly payments, payable over a maximum ten-year period. Home Repair and Accessibility Program (HRAP), an Illinois Housing Development Authority funded program, provides forgivable loans to help eligible homeowners make needed repairs or modifications for accessibility that affect the health or safety of their families.
Safety and Hazardous Home Repair Projects (for City of Aurora residents only). No emails or faxes allowed for this program.
Assists senior citzens and disabled people who have a documented need for accessibility modifications in their home. Those eligible may receive up to $25,000 in assistance as a five year forgiveable loan. Currently out of funding, will update when new funding is available.
Major Rehabilitation Deferred Loan Program - Assistance up to $20,000 is available for major repair or renovation of homes which contain several code-related issues or are in need of significant rehabilitation (cosmetic items do not qualify). The funds are applied as a 5-year forgivable mortgage on the home. Minor Rehabilitation Grant Program - Under this program a grant of up to $12,000 is provided for code-related repairs of an emergency nature which threatens the health or safety of the occupants of the home. Accessibility Grant Program - Provides grant assistance to an income-eligible homeowner or renter of a single-family residence or up to a four-unit complex to eliminate physical barriers which inhibit the use of the dwelling unit by a person with Disability. The maximum grant amount is $7,000.

The initiative provides home repairs to prevent homeowners from suffering injury and falls, accidents, and moving out of their home. Projects include interior or exterior work performed to alleviate critical health, life and safety issues or code violations, including a change to or repair of materials or components; a reconfiguration of space; a modification for accessibility and interior modifications; installation or extension of plumbing, mechanical or electrical systems on an existing structure.
This program is an initiative aimed at addressing critical repair needs of low-income homeowners. The program focuses on making necessary repairs, modifications and improvements to ensure homes are safe, energy-efficient and accessible. Funding programs may require a forgivable loan, an affordable repayment plan or sweat equity hours through volunteer work or advocacy. SCIL Ramp Program: Partners with the Springfield Center for Independent Living (SCIL) to provide disabled homeowners and renters with ramps and other modifications to increase accessibility and help them remain in their homes. Minor Home Repair: CDBG funds for emergency correction of building code deficiencies and other minor repairs of single-family, owner-occupied dwellings for very low to moderate income households. Examples of items which may be repaired are condemned furnaces, faulty wiring, or actively leaking roofs. Major Home Repair: Provides funds in the form of forgivable deferred loans to correct health and safety code violations, including lead-based paint hazards, for single-family dwelling units located in low-income census tracts. Get the Lead Out Program and Healthy Home Production: Awards housing funds to qualified applicants to help cover the cost of lead hazard remediation. This program is available to owner-occupied homes and privately-owned rental properties with four or fewer units. All remediation activities must be conducted in Pre-1978 houses occupied by low to moderate income households. ETIF Exterior Rehabilitation Program: Matching grant program that provides up to $15,000 of assistance to individuals who own the property they reside in for permanent improvements within the Enos Park and Madison Park Place TIF Districts. In the Far East neighborhood, the grant provides up to $25,000 and also interior repairs. In this neighborhood, it provides 90-10 matching as long as homeowner falls under the HUD median income level. For all residents of Springfield, the Citywide grant provides a 50-50 matching grant up to $15,000 for exterior renovations as long as the owner meets HUD income guidelines. First Responder and Veteran Home Purchase and New Construction Grant Programs: A portion of the TIF Funds provide grant assistance to first responders (Police and Fire) and veterans for an owner-occupied home purchase or new home construction in the neighborhood mentioned above. Recipients will be awarded 10% of the purchase price of the home up to $20,000.

The Single Family Repair Program (SFR) offers Hoffman Estates, Schaumburg, and Des Plaines homeowners a 0% interest, deferred loan to pay for needed extensive home repairs and maintenance. The program is designed to help homeowners maintain their homes in safe, good condition while keeping homeownership costs affordable. Funding is provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) through the Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG).
