SUPPORTIVE SERVICES FOR VETERAN FAMILIES (SSVF) | SALVATION ARMY OF DECATUR

Assists low-income veterans and their families in obtaining and maintaining permanent stable housing. Assists through strengths-based goal planning to address current gaps in the Veteran’s ability to secure or maintain stable and sustainable permanent housing. Services can include: - Case management. - Peer mentoring/advocacy from fellow Veterans. - Linkage to VA and other community resources. - Training in life skills, coping skills, and housing preparation. - Linkage to specialists in budgeting, credit counseling, legal services, job preparation, and employment search. - Temporary financial assistance to address housing barriers. - Landlord/ tenant mediation.

Eligibility

- Individual/Head of household or his/her spouse must be a United States veteran who served in active military, naval, or air service and discharged or released under conditions other than dishonorable. - Individual/Family must fall below 50% of Area Median Income for their location. - Must be currently homeless OR imminently at risk of becoming homeless. - Must reside or plan to reside in the state of Illinois and Macon County.
