General Assistance

The General Assistance Program is a state-mandated, locally administered welfare program. General Assistance offers financial support for Orland Township residents to meet basic monthly needs such as shelter, utilities, and food. Primarily, the program is available to adults who are not eligible for any other state or federal program and do not have adequate income or resources to provide for their own needs. General Assistance provides temporary support to pay for basic necessities like rent, utilities, food, and cleaning supplies until a resident obtains employment or begins receiving income from Social Security, disability, unemployment, or other public aid programs.
